The Malin to Open 1st D.C. Location

The Malin has set its sights on its first Washington, D.C., location, scheduled to open in the fall of this year. The Manhattan-based flex office provider will occupy 20,400 square feet in TF Cornerstone’s Marshall B. Coyne building.
The Malin Washington will span two floors—7,000 square feet on the ground floor and 13,400 square feet on the second floor. This is the company’s 10th location nationwide.
The ground floor space will feature two communal workspaces, a library, three phone booths, two patios and an event lecture hall with a screen room. On the second floor, plans call for 12 private offices, four meeting rooms, 20 dedicated desks and 23 phone booths. The coworking office will also include a 700-square-foot reception area.
The Marshall B. Coyne building is at 1156 15th St. NW. TF Cornerstone acquired it in 2006 for $71.2 million, according to CommercialEdge information. Completed in 1963 by developer Marshall Coyne, the property rises 12 stories and features floorplates averaging 14,000 square feet, the same source shows. The 154,666-square-foot mid-rise is currently the subject of a 15-year, $55 million loan issued by New York Life Insurance Co. in 2016.
The Marshall Coyne building is at the traffic intersection between 15th Street NW and M Street NW, in downtown Washington, D.C., within 1 mile of Dupont Circle and The White House. Softek Services Inc., The Griffith Law Group, the Embassy of the Republic of Djibouti and Insights Association are some of the other tenants.
A growing flexible office footprint
This is the second collaboration between The Malin and TF Cornerstone. The flex office provider opened The Malin NoMad last year in March, a 20,000-square-foot coworking space at 387 Park Ave. S. in Manhattan.
The coworking provider operates under the same brand in Nashville, Tenn., Austin, Texas and three more locations in New York City. The Malin plans to open a fifth Manhattan office, in the Flatiron building, as well as a coworking space in Savannah, Ga.
