This year’s group of women are operating at the highest levels of the industry, and several have built their own companies. On their way to the top, they have seized opportunities for new responsibilities and embraced industry change. They’ve sought out strong mentors, and they’ve remembered to pay it forward for the next generation of women climbing the ranks.

While there has been progress in creating more diversity and inclusion in the CRE industry, these women acknowledge barriers remain and more progress must be made.

ULI’s Global Real Estate DEI Survey 2023 shows some improvement over last year. Responding companies in the U.S. report 41.4 percent of their workforce are women with almost 30 percent of employees coming from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups. Women also made gains at the most senior levels of CRE in 2023, with women representing nearly 26 percent of executive management positions–up from 23 percent in 2022.
